Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
In today's newsletter for the 53rd Annual Meeting of the German Society for Neuroradiology we would like to inform you about a number of highlights in the program and provide you with organizational information about the congress.
We look forward to your visit to the congress from October 3 – 6, 2018 in the Kap Europa in Frankfurt / Main.
Prof. Dr. Martin Wiesmann (Aachen) President of the 53rd Annual Meeting of the DGNR neuroRAD2018 goes international - 03.-06.10.2018 Frankfurt a.M.
Neuroradiology for Neurologists, Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 | 01:00 pm - 06:00 pm
This practical intensive course teaches everything that neurologists need to know in order to be able to interpret CT and MRI images. The course is aimed at all neurologists and residents in training and is taught by leading neuroradiologists. For members of the German Society for Neurology there are discounts for participants. "Imaging of Leukodystrophies" - Key Note Lecture on Thursday, October 4th, 2018 | 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm by Prof. Dr. Andrea Rossi
Prof. Dr. Andrea Rossi (Genoa) writes about his key note:
Leukodystrophies are genetically determined disorders in which the white matter of the central nervous system is selectively involved.
Leukodystrophies are currently classified based on the causative defect in the various white matter structural components. Thus, they are categorized into myelin disorders (such as hypomyelinating and demyelinating leukodystrophies, and leukodystrophies with myelin vacuolization); astrocytopathies; leuko-axonopathies; microgliopathies; and leuko-vasculopathies.
The combined application of pattern recognition using MRI and advanced genetic testing with next generation sequencing has led to a marked increase in the amount of defined leukodystrophies in the past few years.
Radiologists must be familiar with the main MRI patterns in order to restrict the range of possible differential diagnoses when reporting an unknown leukodystrophy case.
Following the two keynote lectures from Prof. Prayer and Prof. Rossi, the awards of the German Society of Neuroradiology will take place.
It is a great pleasure for the board of the German Society for Neuroradiology to award honorary memberships to Prof. Anne G. Osborn (Salt Lake City) and Prof. Friedhelm Zanella. The award ceremony will take place on Friday, October 5th, 2018, starting at 5:00 pm, directly after the Key Note Lecture by Prof. Osborn.
Due to the high demand for the hands-on neuroanatomy course on Friday, October 5th, 2018, we have increased our capacities. If you are interested, please register quickly. There are also still a few places available for the basic course Interventional Neuroradiology (Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018) and the specialization course Module F (Saturday, October 6th, 2018).
